AN UNLUCKY DAY FOR U10 WHITES

Chester le Street Town U10 Whites only had 7 boys  available again for this weekends game. The game started well but an early goal from the opposition, from a corner, gave them the lead. Chester town fought back and after a few shoots on goal (that either went wide or were saved by the opposition goal keeper) a lovely cross into the box from Olly found the feet of James O and led to an equaliser. Back on an even score line, the chances came for both sides. A foul led to a penalty for Chester Town that was unfortunately saved, denying the boys of the chance to take the lead. Just before the half time whistle, the opposition managed a break which got through the Chester Town defence and led to a goal. An unfortunate end to an exciting first half, which felt like Chester town had the majority of the ball possession.

The second half just didn’t go Chester Towns way. They had a number of chances, but the oppositions’ goal keeper was on form and saved a number of brilliant shots on target, which on another day would have found the back of the net.

The boys put their heart and soul into the game but their work just didn’t pay off. The opposition capitalised on a number of chances and unfortunately Chester Town couldn’t. We managed to get a goal back a few minutes before the final whistle, curtesy of Finley, but it wasn’t enough.

The score line didn’t reflect the possession that Chester Town had during the match, ultimately the lack of substitutions had an impact on the boys. The opposition had 10 players, which kept them fresh. James C played the full game in goal and made some great saves. Benjamin, Nick, James O, Olly, Thomas and Finley played well as a team, showing some great examples of unselfish play and great passing, but unfortunately missed some great chances. MotM went to Thomas for his overall enthusiasm throughout the game and his amazing work rate.
