Battling Blues come up short

The U7 Blues started the game brightly but were again undone at the back by some good attacking football seeing the blues go down 1-0.

Harry Holmes chased and covered every blade of grass keeping the opposition at bay but an unlucky bounce seen the Blues go 2-0 down.

Some tireless defending by James Sharp protected the goal well and then it was Ben Sharpe that found the net with a left wing run and he nailed the shot from 20 yards into the bottom corner and the Blues were back in it.

Some good pass and move play by Kai Duffy and Lincoln Borthwick created chances and pressure which almost paid off with several shots on goal however by half time the Blues found themselves on the back foot with an unfortunate own goal by Jack Kelly and a break away chance by the opposition leaving the defence Stranded.

Some great battling in the early part of the second half saw Adam Abdullah run onto a great through ball from the defence and smashing in a great shot.

Another unfortunate turn of events saw another own goal this time by Harry Holmes and with more pressing by the Blues and Battling a free kick was awarded which James Sharp stepped up to take and made no mistake driving it low and hard into the bottom corner from 15 yards , unstoppable.

With a more engaged midfield performance from Jack and some important saves from Freddie Barron the score was held back to a 6-3 defeat.
