This was a rearranged fixture for Chester-le-Street U8 Blues as it was postponed for bad weather and to be fair todays conditions were very cold wet and windy. The game was ultimately decided between two free kick specialists. Straight from the kick off Chester pressed hard and Joseph Chapman-Ward had a good chance but the keeper made a tidy save. Shortly after that the opposition went 0 – 1 up from a quick break as Chester pushed forwards. Toby Collinson was injured early, after a stud to the Achilles Evan Dawson subbed on into defence and what a strong performance he had in that position. The equaliser came quickly after a foul and Louie Slevin-Bradley smashed home a free kick No. 1. Again like it was planned the opposition broke quickly as Chester pressed trying to take the lead 1-2. The first half finished with Chester a goal down. The second half started and an early free kick to Chester with Toby Collinson blasting a shot off the bar and in 2 – 2 free kick No. 2. Now it was time with the momentum to press the advantage and goals came quickly from Joshua Craig tapping in after Toby and Noah narrowly missed, then Noah Jackson scored after a defence splitting ball from Joshua Craig. Another free kick to Chester, Toby Collinson instructed to repeat the previous effort and BANG free kick No.3, 5 – 2. Could Toby Collinson complete the hat trick, to make it difficult the Manager put him back in defence but this never stopped him as he pushed forward and form a pass 6 – 2 celebration time unfortunately the kids are too young for champagne. In the middle of all the scoring Taylor Welch was in good form saving shots and starting attacking moves with good balls to his team mates. With the score line 6 – 2 the team gave away two silly fouls and thebopposition scored two free kicks in quick succession 6 – 4. Free kick tally for the game 5. Chester hung on and victory stemmed the run of poor results. Toby Collinson was Man Of The Match for his hat trick and good all round play.
