Blues in the Trenches

Chester le Street U7 Blues found themselves up against an organised opposition this morning and new they had to dig deep in order to get a result.

THEY DID

The blues put on a sterling display of grit and determination from the start with endless opportunities seen going just wide or around the posts.
Some great passing football was on display but the shear determination of the blues to win back the ball when lost was the deciding factor.

The Blues seen themselves go 1-0 down at half time when the defence was robbed and the opposition pounced. This however didn’t discourage the team as they came out 2nd half which can only be described as on fire.

Again some great through balls by Lincoln Borthwick along with some great tracking back to help defend and Adam Abdullah in defence with some great runs forward saw the frontline of Kai Duffy and Jack Kelly having opportunities to equalise although this didn’t materialise the defending from the front tactic saw the opposition having to try and play through however, this forced them toward Ben and James Sharp who must have been given raw meat for breakfast as nothing was going past them in the midfield or defence.

Later in the second half after some gritty forward pressing Lincoln Borthwick found the back of the net bringing the team level 1-1 resulting in a tremendous roaring cheer from the side-lines.

From that point forward it didn’t matter what was thrown at Freddie Barron in goal it was either caught saved and on some occasions finding himself in 1 on 1 scenarios showed bravery in the tackle that every coach dreams of from there Goalkeeper.

The match finished 1-1 which was a fair result but loads for the blues to be proud of and build on.
