Chester Under 7s battled bravely in cold conditions today, showing great effort and commitment for each other.
The first half saw some great saves from Freddie Barron whilst releasing the ball effectively to the defence allowing the team to build from the back with great effect.
James Sharp kept a solid defence with some great tackling whilst passing incisively to the midfield allowing the attack to grow.
Lincoln Borthwick’s jinking runs and mazy dribbles had the opposition in knots. Adam Abdullah was very unlucky not to score and hit the post after some great work in attack, but an opportunistic goal was scored against the blues shortly before half time.
The Blues knew they had created many chances, Kai Duffy running through on goal several times, proving they were not out of this.
The 2nd half was a much more aggressive and determined display from Chester Town, which created a goal early on into the half. James Sharp latched onto a loose ball and passed firmly to Ben Sharp who ran determinedly through their defence smashing a high shot into the roof of the net!
1-1 and back in it,
4 boys in attack and one keeper allowed an immediate reply by a long ball and the blues were 2-1 down.
‘Chin up!!’ was the shout, and the team foraged on looking for the equaliser.
Jack Kelly put in some great tackles and chased down the ball keeping the opposition in their half, Only a matter of time….
Several chances came and went and another corner, our 10th of the game was driven into the box by Kai Duffy and after persistent pressure by the team Ben Sharp pounced 1st and slotted home from close range 2-2 and the coaches were relieved to see Full Time.
