Local rivals Chester le Street Town U-13’S and Waldridge Glanton U-13’S played out a classic ‘game of two halves’ this morning.
The Chester lads came under relentless pressure in the first half and struggled to cope with Waldridge’s direct attacking play. Our lads finding themselves 4-0 down in the first half hour. To be honest it could have been a lot worse.
However the Chester lads gave themselves a life line with a goal against the run of play. DYLAN BRUCE getting one back before half time to make it 4-1.
Chester looked a different team in the second half and began to play on the front foot and ask questions of the Waldridge defence. ADAM GARDNER found space on the right wing and he slotted home to reduce to deficit to 4-2.
The lads, now playing with confidence and determination pulled another one back, when BILLY HAMILTON rounded the Waldridge keeper to fire home. 4-3
Waldridge now appeared to be hanging on, as Chester le Street looked for the equaliser, it finally came when DYLAN BRUCE tapped home from close range after a cross from the right.
A nervy last few minutes as Waldridge had a couple of great chances to win it, one chance going over the bar with only our keeper to beat, then Luke Beardow making a vital clearance as their player went through on goal
The game eventually finishing 4-4, with no team deserving to lose it.
Man of the Match: ADAM SCHROUDER, great energy and determination throughout game, and always willing to help his team mates out.
