Chester le Street Town U8 Lions played brilliantly today in what was a hard fought match, between two evenly matched teams.
Aston put in a captain’s performance playing in goal, making some good saves and leading by example. The team worked hard in midfield and made excellent challenges in defence. Myles in particular playing like a young Maldini and reading the game superbly.
The team’s work on passing is really coming together, with some great pieces of play leading to numerous chances to score. Unfortunately the Lions came up against a very good goalkeeper, who kept his team in the game.
It was the opposition who opened the scoring. A Lions corner was well defended and the attack broke quickly to score, despite the Lions’ best efforts to get back.
The Lions did not let their heads drop however and kept working hard, getting plenty of shots away.
Goals from Alfie G and Alfie R put the Lions into the lead. It was not enough however to seal the victory as the opposition took a late opportunity to equalise.
A draw was a fair result overall and a great advert for mini soccer. Well done everyone.
