Chester-le-Street Town U8 Whites got a great win today. Four games, 34 goals nobody can accuse them of being boring to watch. After two heavy loses the boys were asked to go out and enjoy themselves but to stick to their given roles in the team. Joel Mewes-Reed started in goal, Nick Twinn and Thomas Walton in defence, Finley Benek up front and James Carr asked to fill the middle with Jacob Lisle starting on the bench. Ten seconds in Chester were 1-0 down to a soft goal and the opposition looked very confident. The Whites have a superb attitude however and showed determination to play football. Finley showed neat footwork to beat the last defender before burying the ball in the bottom corner and less than a minute later Thomas struck in a confident manner from some way out showing he is growing in any position on the pitch. Meanwhile Joel kept out a string of shots which on any other day would have earned him MotM so it was with disappointment that the score was again pulled back to 2-2. Fortunately the boys are made of tougher stuff these days. The team was reshuffled for the second half with James going in goal and Jacob scored from almost the halfway line with his first chance. Nick and Joel were starting to look strong at the back so when the game was again brought back to 3-3 you could feel the boys were really up for it now. Thomas played brilliantly to get his hat-trick and MotM, Finley grabbed 3 for his effortless dribbling and finishing. Jacob was unlucky not get his first ever hat-trick having to settle for just the 2. Final score 8-3 with a breathtaking second half and a delighted bunch of parents.
