Chester-le-Street Under 10 Blues and Hoops share the Spoils in Derby Day cracker. The Blues and the Hoops lined up together today in what turned out to be a breathtaking performance from both teams. With the Blues forced to make a few changes to the team that won last week it was the Hoops that started on the front foot. Phillipa Hunter causing problems in the middle and linking up well with Callum Bradford but a few fine saves from Leon Smith starting in goal for the Blues frustration was setting in. The blues eventually started pushing forward with some great work from Max Sewell and Oli Snowden but were denied by the post on two occasions. The deadlock was broke after a thunderbolt of a strike from Charlie Nightengale 1-0 hoops. The Blues sprung into action with some fancy footwork from Max who crossed it for Ev Smith 1-1. Both teams feeling a little aggrieved at half time, had it not been for some fine saves and the Woodwork either could of been ahead. Second half under way and much the same as the first the Hoops started stronger but with Leon and Johnathan Buckton organising the blues from the back the Football was starting to flow. Xander Parkinson striding through the middle forcing a great save from George Bell only for Philipa to snatch the rebound with a great finish 2-1. Yet again the Blues dug in and were now passing the ball well, Katy Garaway who was outstanding in the middle played a great ball to Ev Smith who finished emphatically 2-2. End to end Football ensued and again the Hoops went ahead with a long range effort taking a cruel deflection off George Bells foot hitting the post and trickling over the line. The clock was ticking and with less than five minutes to go the Blues were handed a free kick just outside the box after Harry Duncan who’d be great all day fouled Leon to stop him advancing through. Leon with the grit between his teeth and that look in his eye that has earned him the nickname of the Blue and White tractor stepped up and smashed the ball into the top left corner 3-3. The Blues pressed for a winner but couldn’t quite get there. 3-3 the final score and a great spirited performance from both teams who were an absolute credit to the club. The Blues remain unbeaten in two and Hoops pick up their first points of the season. Well done ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ MoM Alex Dodgson(Hoops) Blues Max Sewell Johnathan Buckton
