Chester-le-Street U8 Lions started slowly this morning and were 1-0 down from the off. Lions were then 2-0 down and needed a response. They came back with the some brilliant running from Oliver Loan and Gabriel Eccleston. Leon Rose then nearly scored what would of been goal of the season with a stunning turn and volley from a McKenzie Wilkinson kick.
Second half started and the Lions got their goal with a brilliant passage of play which started from the back and every player touched the ball before Jake O’Shaughnessy played a neat pass to McKenzie Wilkinson who tucked it home, game on. Lions then equalised with a lovely ball from Gabriel to release McKenzie 1 on 1 and he tucked it brilliantly past the keeper.
Game then got tense and Fionn Donnelly made some brilliant chasing tackles from the back to keep it 2-2
As well as this a brilliant save and piece of bravery from George McDonald to keep it 2-2. Then a piece of magic from James Oliver a shot from distance rocketed into the corner and the lions went in the lead. Lions hung on and deserved the brilliant win that their second half performance deserved.
Motm Gabriel Eccleston for some brilliant running passing and all round play
Well done lions
