Our Under 8 Lions played the game of the season so far with both teams defending unbeaten records. Chester-le-Street took the lead when Leon Rose was put through and he scored with a great finish. Both teams had chances and Oliver Loan who went in goal for the first half had a tremendous game. They eventually conceded a goal and the score at half time was 1-1.

The second half was much the same although there was a period when the Lions were under tremendous pressure and keeper Jake O’Shaughnessy made some outstanding saves. Chester then went a goal behind and went looking for an equaliser. In a frantic last few minutes the Lions thought they had scored only to see it disallowed for a foul on the keeper. The game ended 2-1 and the Lions faced defeat for the first time. There was no disgrace in losing to the best side they have played all season and they should take heart from the fact they were every bit as good as them and could have won. Great performance by everyone.
