Chester le Street Town U8 Lions started slowly in the blistering heat and could have been 2 or 3 goals down if it wasnt for the heroics of George Mcdonald pulling off some majestic saves early on.
Unfortunaley George wasnt able to keep out an effort from outside the box as the opposition went ahead.
Lions responded well and quickly equalised with Mckenzie Wilkinson forcing bundling home from close range. Mckenzie quickly added a second straight from kick off.
In the heat changes were made and everyone played there part with runs and key blocks from Oliver Loan and Fionn Donnely keeping it 2-1 at HT
Lions started the second half like they ended the first with high energy and closing down. Some brillaint closing down from James Oliver played Gaberiel Eccleston through who brilliantly kept his compusure and put the lions 3-1 ahead.
Opposition kept coming back and a brilliant strike gave Mckenzie no chance and it was 3-2. Then some brillaint chasing from Leon Rose kept the ball where the lions wanted it before a calm composed finish from Jake O’Shaughnessy put the Lions 4-2 ahead. The opposition to their credit kept coming back and made it 4-3 in the closing stages. Back to the walls the Lions defended well and a brilliant all round team performance meant they hung on for all 3 points.
MOTM was difficult to hand due to the all round brilliance of the team performance. But due to the pure willingness of James Olivers running and the saves from George Mcdonald were the two MOTM
