Chester-le-Street Town U12’s kicked off their first game of the New year with a defeat against promotion chasing Consett. Despite good effort and commitment, the lads struggled with their impressive, pacey opponents and found themselves trailing 5-0 at half time.
Better possession and attacking play, particularly on the right with Adam Gardner saw the lads produce a much improved and spirited second half. The Consett keeper having to be called into action several times to deny the Chester lads. Bailey Capes and Dylan Bruce netted for Chester Town to give the lads some hope.
However it was the Consett lads who were able to find the goal a further four times, and ran out deserved winners on a difficult pitch today. Credit to both sets of players. Final score Chester Town 2-9 Consett
Man of the match, Jacob Mills, the new Chester-le-Street Town keeper showed great character to make some decent blocks.
