Despite battling away until the final whistle, the lads struggled in their opening game of the season losing heavily to Felling Magpies in Gateshead this morning.

With the bigger pitches, goals and longer match time this season, the boys looked up against it, starting the game with only 10 players. Chester le Street did look dangerous at times with Adam Gardner causing problems down the right wing. However some clinical finishing and a bit of luck at times from the home side, saw them score seven first half goals. Billy Hamilton and Dylan Bruce getting themselves on the scoresheet for Chester in the first half, to make the half time scoreline a little bit more respectable 7-2.

The second half played out much the same as the first. Felling Magpies adding to their goal tally with some decent long range efforts. To their credit the Chester lads stayed positive and kept trying to create opportunities. Billy Hamilton managing to add to his first half goal, to score Chester’s only second half goal.

Luke Beardow was Man of the match, he kept battling away and worked hard in a tough opening game for the lads.
