TOUGH SECOND GAME FOR U8 WHITES

Chester le Street Town U8 Whites had a tough second game today. We started the game strong with our new signing Eve combining well with her team to create chances but we were unable to get through on goal early on.
The opposition broke from their own goal kick and skipped past on goal, James was quick off his line to smoother the ball. The game went back and forth with Chester unable to get on target and the opposition having every shot on goal, but with mini pickford in goal they couldn’t find the net, James was incredible in the sticks.
A corner came for the other team after a great clearance from Zac, swung in high, took well and into the corner they were 1-0 up.
Chester regrouped, substitute for Ane to make way for his brother Thula and game on. Thula and Eve worked well today bamboozling their defence with silky skills and Thula was in on goal, no hesitation and drew it level 1-1.
2nd half, changes again and Cece came on with Joe to firm up the defence. They remained solid and did a great job. A free kick was given to opposition in a dangerous place, James stood firm organised the defence and they struck the ball, high, dipping, but James remained strong, finger tips over the bar, the crown went wild! From the corner driven low it bounced around and ended in the net. 2-1.
Chester broke from the kick, pressure on the players and eve got her first Chester town goal! 2-2, game on! Opposition worked well and had shot after shot, still keeping the ball out l, could we hold on ….
Another corner in, cleared out by the keeper but fell to an open player, bang bottom corner 3-2.
Chester kept pushing, every effort and passion to go on but they managed to break free and converted with 30 seconds left, 4-2.
Unlucky Chester today, all worked hard, kept going and showed massive improvement! Onwards and upwards!
Man of the match, James ‘pickford Barrett.
