Chester le Street U10 Whites grabbed the win in a very close game this morning ending a run of 2 defeats.
The goal came from Josh Wright who won, took and scored a free kick with about 10 minutes left to play. Wrighty himself would be first to admit it wasnt his greatest free kick but just goes to show the importance of hitting the target!
In all fairness it was a poor performance from the lads. While the effort and commitment we’re there in abundance the quality was clearly left at home with the lads creating only two clear chances all game.
Joshua Ruggles striking the post in the first half after some nice interplay and dribbling and Ben Cummings failing to convert a 1 v 1 with the opposition keeper early in the second half after a neat through-ball by Logan Newton.
In general the passing and particularly the movement was poor with the whites failing to regularly string together more than 3 or 4 passes – quite unlike them.
So while the win was nice for the lads, and goes to prove they can win even when not on their game the game mainly serves and nice reminder to the coaches of the specific areas we need to improve come training on Monday!
