U10 Whites make it 2 outta 2

Chester le Street Under 10 whites went into todays game on the back of a great 3 – 2 win in their opening game of the season.

After a bit of a scrappy start the lads finally started to pass the ball about and create some chances and when one fell to Logan Newton he didn’t mess about, smashing low and hard into the bottom corner to make it 1 – 0. That’s 2 goals in 2 games for Logan after scoring the first goal last week as well!!

The lads went into half time 1 – 0 up, while its fair to say were the better team first half that was really based on the defensive efforts of Charlie Soulsby, Max Carr and Alex White. All three had solid performances, some dogged defending when needed, but impressively, the passing and composure for the most part was excellent and has improved significantly this season. Dan Watkin also put in a shift up and down the pitch with some neat all round passing.

Second half saw the whites shift up a gear. Joshua Ruggles quickly scoring the 2nd of the day after a neat one-two with Ben Cummings on the edge of the box – before slotting home for a well deserved goal.

3 – 0 quickly followed, Ben once again the provider sliding a through ball to Josh Wright who lashed it in to the top corner in some style. His 2nd unstoppable goal in 2 games!

A few more chances came and went for the whites, before Josh Wright bagged his 2nd with a shot from the edge of box. It looked suspiciously like a toe-punt to the naked eye but after the game Wrighty claimed it was “curled beautifully with his instep” extensive video replays provided inconclusive 😀

Jayden Kelly deserved a clean sheet, if for nothing else than keeping his concentration through-out, but mainly for really finding his voice and controlling his defense very well. Sadly it wast meant to be (once more the last kick of the game provided to be bad one, this time a corner smacking an opposition player in the face and creeping over the line!). Literally last kick, we didnt even kick off again.

All in all a good day for the whites making to 2 in 2 and unbeaten start to the season! Long may it continue…
