Chester Whites U11 put is a spirited performance at home against top of the league Washington Hawks, in what was a tough fought match straight from the off.
With a few strong tackles going in from both teams, it was no surprise when the first goal came from the spot; despite Callum saving the penalty and the follow up the Hawks put the ball in the back of the net. Chester were soon level also from the spot. Matt made no mistake smashing the ball to the top right hand corner giving the keeper no chance.
The rest of the first half was a scrappy affair and Washington went 3-1 up before the break with two quick fire goals.
Chester came out more determined than ever after the half time team talk. Halfway through the second half they got a second with Matt scoring his second of the match after a good run and a neat finish. Soon after Sam made it 3-3 with an excellent finish from long range.
With the game tightly balanced it could have went either way, but the Hawks finishing proved more clinical and they again netted twice in quick succession. In the closing minutes they added a sixth and that was the way it finished – 3-6 to Washington Hawks.
It was a very entertaining game to watch and the final score line was a bit harsh on Chester, but there were plenty of positives to take away. All the lads showed a lot of heart and played well as a team with some good passing and created some decent chances. Matt and Sam both got on the score sheet again. Aiden looked nearly back to full fitness after his injury. Jayce made his debut and put in a good performance. Callum took man of the match after another good performance between the sticks.
