Chester le Street Town U12’s finished off their league campaign with a very entertaining 2-2 draw with South Moor this morning. Chester le Street Started strongly and created numerous chances in the first half with Billy Hamilton’s pace and dribbling causing the South Moor defence all sorts of problems. He broke free several times, but a mixture of wayward finishing and excellent goalkeeping kept the first half goalless, despite a dominant display from the lads.
Into the second half Chester finally broke the deadlock, Billy Hamilton slipping the ball past the South Moor keeper, the ball trickling over the line.Unfortunately the lads didn’t push on, they appeared to drop off and invite pressure. South Moor taking advantage to grab themselves a couple of goals to take a 2-1 lead. This was harsh on Chester who were playing with plenty heart and determination. This determination finally payed off, Jack Lockey, who had a great game today, prodded home from a goalmouth scramble to give the lads a deserved equaliser. It was a nervy finish for Chester, The South Moor lads pushed for the winner, but with a goal line clearance, some last ditch defending and Jacob Mills in fine form in the Chester goal, the lads held on to take a well deserved point.
Man of the Match: Jacob Mills, showed great character after finishing the game in discomfort after receiving a boot to the face during the second half.
