Saturday 27th saw Chester-le-Street Town U8Blues compete In a very tight game. The first ten minutes saw a dominant performance from the opposition who continually had 3 players attacking the Chester defence and for a time Evan Dawson proved to be too strong. When they did manage to get a shot on target Taylor Welch came to the front with some good saves and in particular a very good double save. Unfortunately, the onslaught proved too much and the opposition managed to score two goals. After a few substitutions the Blues were back in the game seeing a chance fly just over the bar from Joshua Craig and Cohen Mickle blasting high. This showed the team had goals in them. In the second half Joseph Chapman-Ward broke free from a weighted pass from Toby Collinson which he dispatched into the bottom right 2-1. From now on we were just waiting for the equaliser Toby Collinson hit the post Noah Jackson, Louie Slevin-Bradly and Evan Dawson all had chances which just missed or were saved. With time running out and a corner to the Blues all players were sent into the box for a final push but unfortunately time was up. The team were not despondent and knew they had played well and it just wasn’t their day. A group decision for Taylor Welsh as MOTM for a magnificent double save.
