U8 Blues In Battle

We started the game with a new found confidence, the young team
Drawing upon its 2 years experience and the win from last week.

Our opponents were well organised and strong in ever department.
This was gonna be tough.

Captain Harry Holmes was
Imperious today, his engine is massive…
His desire to win and to create attacks whilst covering defence is a coaches dream…
Beckham-esque.

Keeper Jack Kelly was a Fort Knox today, strong in the challenge and switched on for everything coming his way….
Courageous and brave with no thought for himself…

Ben Sharp was covering the whole pitch,
Breaking up attacks and recovering the ball well, whilst James Sharp covered defence and also foraged on into attack to seek the treasure of a goal…

Fred Barron was strong in the tackle and kept the opposition at bay for long periods….

Before the inevitable goal came after much pressure from the opposition,
An Exocet into the bottom corner, no chance for the keeper. 1-0 and oh boy it’s gonna be a fight lads!

The subs came on and immediately had an impact, Adam Abdullah pirouetted and Moved with great skill and flow…

Kai Duffy had presence of mind to pick the pass, to make the tackle and interlink with all his team mates…

Lincoln Borthwick rouletted and ran the wings like a man possessed…
great industry and effort were mustered from all players…

Half time came and a battle of hearts and minds…

The 2nd half was tight…
We had battles in every part of the pitch,
A one to one was snuffed out by Jack Kelly, certain goal with that dive and touch.

Harry Holmes neutralised threats at every turn, again saving his team from certain defeat with gargantuan tackles perfectly timed…

Then a Harry Holmes pass set up Ben Sharp to shoot which agonisingly rolled towards goal and a Freddie Barron howitzer from 2 inches out clinched the point and 1-1… euphoria!!

We held out by sheer guts and determination, the coaches walked out proud as punch.. 1-1.
