U8 BLUES STARTED WHERE THEY LEFT OFF

Today was the start the winter league and the U8 Blues their good form in the summer league would continue. Their first game had more twists and turns than a Scottish B road with Chester taking the early lead as Joshua Craig broke down the right moving past 3 players and finishing with a powerful shot. For the next 5 minutes the game was open with both teams having chances to score until Toby Collinson slipped the ball through to Joshua and on the stretch finishing from 15 yards with a toe punt into the bottom right corner 2-0. From this point we were hoping to press on and make it a comfortable victory but unfortunately the opposition made an impressive comeback making the score 2-2 with both goals been fired past Taylor Welch giving him no chance. The rest of the half continued with both teams making numerous chance Chester having the better opportunities and Toby sitting in defence restricting the opponents chances. The second half kicked off with no team changes from Chester but the opposition made some tactical changes and unfortunately scored first in the second half 3-2 with a drilled shot into the bottom right, shortly after they made a tremendous break and with a last ditch tackle from Joshua that was given as a foul(Premier League Referee would have given a red 😊) they missed the preceding free kick. This reinvigorated the Blues and from a nice pass from Noah Jackson to Joseph Chapman-Ward and a good finish 3-3. Chester now had the momentum and Louie Slevin-Bradley broke free and scored a beautiful strike into the top corner… potential goal of the season 3-4. Now all the play was with the Blues and Noah broke free and was fouled in the box Penalty 3-5. It looked like game over with 3 minutes remaining the opposition made another come back soring making it 4-5. Time to park the bus so a quick change for the last 2 and Chester held on for the first win of the new campaign. Man of the match went to Joshua for scoring 2 and his all-round performance.
