On Saturday the 12th May Chester le Street Town U8 Blues had a must win match against the team 3rd from bottom, with victory they would avoid relegation. After a run of poor results a change in form was required. The team was ready for action and knew they had to perform, so a strong line-up was selected. Signs were promising after an early shot from Noah Jackson pulled a good save from the keeper, then Joshua Craig played Joseph Chapman-Ward in without a goal. This was just what the Blues needed, then from a break Joshua played a cross field ball to Toby Collinson who fired a shot in that was saved but as always Joseph Chapman-Ward was in the right place and tapped in for 1 – 0. Early in the second half Chester had a corner, Noah Jackson took the corner with a brave Joseph Chapman-Ward putting his face on the ball and it bobbled over the line 2 – 0. All was looking good until the opposition had a quick break Toby Welch came off his line a pulled off the save but unfortunately the ball bounced straight back to the forward who scored 2 – 1. Louie Slevin-Bradley did some good work down the left crossing to Cohen Mickle and Noah Jackson who had chances but the keeper saved. Louie Slevin-Bradly had a good chance with a header and Joshua Craig with a long range shot. To close the door finally, Noah Jackson tackled an opponent and blasted home into the top corner. This was all the team needed to settle their nerves and they calmly saw the game out. Bottom off the league next week so hopefully we will finish mid table. No Man Of The Match as it was a real Team performance well done everyone.
