Chester le Street Town U8 Whites made it back to back wins today with a strong performance. In goal stood James Carr and Joel Mews Reed in each half and they in truth had little to do due to the hard work their team put in. James looked confident when needed and Joel produced a very good block rushing off his line late in the game. The game began with Finley Benek and Thomas Walton playing very deep in full back positions with instruction to move the ball forward under control and they did this so well that we completely controlled the first half. A 2 – 0 lead somewhat flattered the opposition and Thomas was very unlucky to reach the interval without a hat-trick seeing a superb effort just drift wide after beating the keeper. Finley is setting a bar for work rate on the pitch so when the second half started with both Thomas and Finley on the sidelines, questions were asked of those playing in the centre. Those questions were answered by Will Jackson and Nick Twinn in uncompromising fashion. Will was constantly chasing a goal which put the opposition defence under stress but Nicks endless running, breaking up counter attacks and launching shots of his own eventually broke through any attempts of a comeback as he bundled the ball over the line. Jacob Lisle deserves a special mention though for how he went about sticking to instructions on the pitch. When up front he was often in superb position for quick counter attacks and during the second half was again brilliantly positioned to stop opposition attacks that got through midfield. We have goals coming from all areas of the team, passing has increased massively recently and pass choice gets better and better. As individuals take on personal instructions the season should develop nicely. Finleys late goal made today’s score a 4 – 0 Win, great game to watch.
