U8 LIONS GRAB LATE EQUALISER

Under 8 Lions were a goal down in the first half. Leon Rose almost scored when his great shot went narrowly wide. It looked like a goal would never come until Jake O’Shaughnessy burst clear to lash in the equaliser. Some great work by George McDonald created another chance for Jake which was saved. It was a very even first half with both teams going close and McKenzie Wilkinson was called upon to make some great saves. In the second half the Lions took the lead when James Oliver made a strong run down the left and finished with a great shot. Chester were now looking for a winner but were caught out when the opposition made a great counter attack and took the lead. They nearly made it 3-1 stopped only by a brave save by Leon.

Chester were now laying siege to the oppositions goal hitting the post three times and forcing the keeper to make save after save. Everyone was having a shot including McKenzie, Gabriel, Jake and James. With only seconds to go Chester had another shot which the keeper failed to hold. There was a scramble in the box and Fionn Donnelly was on hand to force the ball over the line for a deserved equaliser. There were tremendous celebrations both on and off the pitch with coach doing a Di Canio like sprint down the line.
