Chester-le-Street Town U8 Whites we’re without their last seasons player of the year Will Jackson. Will who is recovering from a broken collar bone will be a big miss both as a player and a friend

The Whites proudly wearing their new strips courtesy of the new team sponsor “The Himalaya Restaurant” were determined to put in a good performance.

Chester started very strong against a team that showed moments of great passing and control throughout the match but for 10 minutes the match sat at 0-0. Joel Mewes -Reed played the first half in goal and while he had little to save his kicks down field kept the opposition under pressure eventually leading to a smart finish from Finley Benek who ran tirelessly. Once we broke the deadlock goals began to fly in. Thomas Walton provided pass after pass to the forwards and James Carr tried to help at both ends too with good passing and control. Jacob Lisle played at the back when he came on and got a few early shots registered and Nick Twinn worked quietly as last man in defence covering both Jacob and Thomas. Jacob switched with Joel in goal for the second half and ended the match with a brilliant high save. Constant pressure throughout the team won Chesree plenty of possession and the Whites are starting to see the value in passing down the pitch instead of solo runs which provided Finley lots of attacking chances 5 of which he scored. Good to see Nick Twinn grab a ‘lefty’ and Joel was excellent coming out with the ball.

Final Score 6-3 to Chester-le-Street Town U8 Whites
