Chester-le-Street Town Under 9 Blues were involved in a fantastic game of football this morning. A tight first half saw the opposition score 3 quick goals after some great defending from Huw, Ollie and Max as well as some surging runs from Leon. 4-0 at half time was not really a fair representation of how well the Blues had played. A frenetic start to the second half saw Toby Bell score after some great interplay between himself and Cole Robson. More chances came the blues way, while at the back Angus Smith and Seth Atkinson kept it tight, making some fantastic challenges and blocks. A second goal from Man of the Match Toby, set up a brilliant finish to the match. Henry Daglish was on hand to turn in a lovely cross from Cole, after a cleverly worked bit of play from him and Seth from the corner taken by Seth. The oppositions nerves were showing and a free kick for a foul on Charlie Adamson saw the offended player hit a stunning, curled shot into the top left corner. Both teams pushed for a winner but the spoils were shared, although not before Cole headed slightly wide and Seth took a ball in the face at the other end but he jumped straight up to make a sliding challenge a minute later and play in Toby for a chance on goal. But for some great defending, Chester could have won it, with clearances off the line and the post coming to the rescue but the Blues stayed alert to keep out the opposition once or twice in the final few minutes.
