U9 Whites in 4 – 4 thriller

Chester le Street U9 whites put in arguably their best performance of the season in a fabulous, end to end, 4 – 4 draw.

The Whites found themselves a goal down after their opponents smashed one into the top corner. The lads didn’t let their heads drop with Hayden Oakes grabbing the equaliser (his 13th of the season) with a beautiful curling effort that when went low in the bottom corner.

The opponents were pressing well but defensively Jayden Kelly, Dan Burlison and Alex White we coping well, strong int he tackle and passing well, with Max Carr doing well in goal pulling off some great saves.

The lads went in  2 – 1 down at half time as their opponents grabbed a goal to make it 2 – 1. Thankfully for them there’s no offside at 7 aside or the 20 yard offside would surely have been spotted by the ref (unless Keith Stroud was refereeing, then who knows what would have happened 🙂 )

The lads had fire in their belly 2nd half, and came right back into the game through Charlie Soulsby who notched his 2nd goal of the season in fine fashion to bring it back to 2 – 2.

Not to be stopped Ben Cummings coolly finished to make it 3 -2. Back came the opposition to make it 3 – 3 before Ben once more netted from close range to make it 4 – 3 to whites, a goal which takes his goal tally to 19 for the season.

The lads kept pressing, kept fighting and create several more chances falling to Ben, Hayden, Charlie and the Joshua Ruggles who put in an excellent all round performance. Dan Waktin controlled the midfield well and the lads dominated the game for a good 10 minutes…The most notable chance was a questionable decision, did it cross the line? did the keeper have it in his hands? Ultimately the ref decided it was a free kick and the game remained at 4 – 3. Not so sure he got it right, but positively the lads didn’t let it affect them.

With about 30 secs to go the opposition grabbed an equalised to end a fabulous game of end to end football, played in the right way and which i think everyone who watched enjoyed.

Well done to all the lads, Jayden, Dan, Max, Charlie, Alex, Dan, Joshua, Ben & Hayden!
