Another win today for the Chester le Street Town Under 9 Whites. A full squad was available for the match with James Carr starting in goal. Things started well with both teams looking evenly matched and chances at both ends of the pitch, brilliant saves and defensive work. The opposition scored first but the goal was quickly disallowed  ( a decision that no- one understood). Within a flash the ball was at the other end of the pitch and no one knows how Chester town didn’t find the back of the net as the ball seemed to hover on the goal line for an eternity!! We went ahead as Chester town found their confidence. The opposition equalised shortly after, but that just made Chester town more focused and they were soon 2:1 up, then 3:1 at half time. The passing in the first half was brilliant and without it, the back of the net would not have been found as the opposition challenged every time Chester town had the ball.  After the coach praised the teams progress at half time and the team work showed,  the second half got off to a great start with Joel Mews-Reed taking his place in goal. As the second half got underway Chester town looked the stronger team leading to another two goals, both brilliant and only possible due to the passing of the boys down the pitch. The opposition got one back but that didn’t affect Chester town, as they went on to score a sixth goal.

A very enjoyable game with brilliant passing, tackles, goals and saves from all of the team, not to mention a lot of whistle blowing!Chester town whites is becoming a force to be reckoned with as they continue their amazing start to the winter season.

  1. Thanks for a brilliant write up Bev. I watched the next 4-5 set plays and yes, James was being fouled every time in goal so (final score aside) the referee was brilliant on the day, encouraging both teams and letting the game flow as much as possible before pulling play back if no advantage gained. Also a mention to the other coaching team who played and behaved in a great manner. This wasn’t our best performance but after a slow start our energy levels got us ahead of a team that won 10/11 games last season and we are definitely showing a better team ethic these days
