U9 Whites Turn The Tables In Narrow Victory!

Chester Town U9 Whites came up against another newly promoted side yesterday.

Chester unfortunately lost last season’s game and we’re hoping that they could turn the tables this time round.

The start of the 1st half was end to end stuff but neither team was able to finish good build up play. However, just over halfway through the half, good work down the left from Grayson Abbott created the opportunity for Brooklyn Fearon to give Chester the lead.

Just as it looked like Chester would hold on until half time, Chester gave away a free kick outside the left hand side of the box. As they were lining up the wall, the opposition played a short one and Nathan Staines got his hands to the shot but couldn’t keep it out.

The 2nd half was very much the same as the 1st. Chester had a few chances to restore the lead and hit the woodwork twice.

With 5 mins to go, Grayson Abbott dispossessed the defender just outside the box. This left him 1 on 1 with the GK and he kept a calm head and placed the ball into the top left corner.

The boys never looked like conceding due to solid defending from all the boys and held on for a 2-1 victory and gave them their 1st win of the season.

Chris Storey, Harry Gibson and Angus Johnstone all played very well at the back. Ben Tiffen constantly harassed the opposing defenders whilst Kris Clark tirelessly created chance after chance down the right hand side. Charlie High played his best game of the season and still created chances even though he was asked to sit slightly deeper in centre midfield.
