A great start to the new season for Chester Town U10 whites

Straight from a friendly game earlier in the week, Chester Town were ready for their first game of the new season. The boys all had new positions ( and a permanent goalkeeper)so it was uncertain how this first game would go, but it couldn’t have gone better!!!

The game started well with Chester Town having most of the possession. Chester Town made some great saves and kept the pressure on the opposition. It was inevitable that Chester town would break the deadlock, which happened after a brilliant cross finding the feet of a waiting Chester Town player. Play continued with great saves at both ends of the pitch, but Chester Town were on fire and another brilliant cross, into the box, landed perfectly leading to the second goal. The next few minutes saw the opposition take a bit more control of the ball and a minor mistake by Chester Town allowed them a break, and they scored. The half time whistle soon followed and the boys went off for their inspirational team talk.

The second half started much the same as the first. Chester Town were unlucky to find the back of the net on a number of occasions but as always they persevered which ultimately lead to another goal, and a hat trick!! Play continued seeing chances at both ends of the pitch, more so for Chester Town. An error by the opposition goal keeper saw another goal hit the back of the net, shortly followed by another mistake leading to Chester Town capitalising and hitting the back of the net again. The boys were on fire with a 4 goal cushion but the opposition seemed to find their flare, going on to score 2 goals in close succession. The Chester Town supporters and coaches started to get a bit twitched as the second half of the game felt like it should have been nearly over…. but there was only 16 minutes on the clock! The final minutes passed and a number of chances were missed by Chester Town, but the defence held strong denying the opposition a chance to break through. The final whistle was finally blew to give the Chester town boys their first win of the season.

From today’s performance it is clear the passion for the game within our boys. Taking into account that this was the first game in their new positions, I am sure there is more to come from the them.

A great display of team work, both with passing up front and challenges in defence.

A well deserved win….. well done boys.
