As the Spring Cup gets under way for Chester le Street Town U9 White’s we welcome James Oliver to the team and get started on a new chapter of our journey with an emphasis placed on testing ourselves at a higher level and trying to play the beautiful game in the right manner. Some players will be in new positions and others will be tasked with different goals to achieve and this will all take time. Today’s game was a blustery affair with the wind not helping either team. The score line suggested we were well beaten but there was little between the sides and both struggled to get into a rhythm. Several times James Carr made good saves only for the ball to either squirm under him or come out straight to the opposition and Joel Mews made good saves in the second half too. Stand out performances came from MotM Will Jackson, playing in defence and also from Finley Benek playing in his new position of defensive midfield in which he has never trained or been asked to do before. Everyone worked hard without reward and even had a penalty cross the line but no goal given so some days it’s just how it goes. The rest of the squad was made up by: Nick Twinn, James Oliver, Thomas Walton, Ben Wright, Ashton Hui, Oliver Loan.
