The weekend of the 21st/22nd saw Chester le Street Town U8 Blues suffer two unfortunate defeats. On the Saturday they lost 6-3, with a very slow start the Blues quickly went 3-0 down after letting in some sloppy goals, then came back into the games with goal from Louis Slevin-Bradley scoring straight from the kick off, then Joseph Chapman-Ward scoring after Evan Dawson went on a dribble from defence then Joshua Craig Slipped a nice pass and the score was 3-3. It was all looking good for the blues with Toby Collinson hitting the corner of the crossbar and post, Noah Jackson coming close, Cohen Mickel had two good chance but was thwarted by the keeper. Then unfortunately, the Blues gave a penalty away… goal 4-3 and the Team lost confidence just like Sunderland and quickly lost a 5th and 6th goal. Chester still had chances and should have also received a penalty but it just wasn’t their day.
Sundays game again was another unlucky affair with a new pressing defensive approach like Man City the Blues played most of the game in their opponents half giving them no space to play. Toby Collinson had an early shot that narrowly missed then shortly after score a lovely goal from the right wing. The score was quickly levelled from a corner after an opponent ducked out the way of the ball which struck his bum deflecting off one of the blues and into the goal. Taylor Welch then save from a good free kick which was destined for the top corner. Tackle of the day went to Evan Dawson who on the stroke of half time demonstrated how to win a 50% 50% tackle coming away with the ball a small piece of the pitch and the knowledge no one else would want to get in his way. Chester still dominated play but managed to fall behind giving away two simple goals. Today Chester kept the heads and pressed on Noah Jackson made some positive chances and Joshua Craig hit the Post. There were some good passing move that cut the opposition wide open but the final ball kept getting slightly over hit. In the last minute Joshua Craig hit a sweet shot from the right wing over the keeper 3-2 but that was the last kick of the game. Man Of The Match for Saturday was Joseph Chapman-Ward for two good goals and all round play then Sunday Taylor Welch for stopping a number of goal bound shots.
